How to Make a Vision Board
In episode 11: Jobs, Careers, and Finding Fulfillment: Advice on Burnout and How to Know When It’s Time to Switch Careers, I recommend making a vision board to assist you on visualizing and imagining the career and life your desire.
Vision boards are a great way to start visualizing the future you want and becoming intentional about being a creator of your own reality. When you make your vision board have fun! Treat it as a date with yourself or a friend, rather than a chore.
Supplies
Magazines
Printed Images (via Google or other internet search)
Board, Canvas, Hardstock, or Paper (These are ideas for your vision board backdrop)
Construction Paper
Markers, Colored Pencils, Crayons
Glue
Scissors
Any other fun items you want to use (ex: glitter, ribbon, etc.)!
Suggestions
Put on music and go through the magazines and cut out images that represent what you want to create.
Spend time creating a list of what you want to create in your life over the next year, 5 years, 10 years. Then search the internet for images that resonate with the reality you want to create.
If you have trouble dreaming up a list, here are some suggestions to help you tap into your desires:
Sit in meditation and ask yourself what your dream life looks like. See what images, words, sounds, and feelings arise.
Allow yourself to journal about what your dream life looks like, ask your self questions such as:
What do I desire most?
What dreams did I have as a child?
What do I love to do?
If anything was possible, what do I want most in the world?
What feelings do I want to feel in my dream life?
What’s my dream career? Relationship? Friendships? Home? Vacation? Get creative with what you add to your vision board!
Most importantly, have fun! You want to look at this and feel joy, so get creative and find ways to infuse yourself and joy into your vision board
